The Lost World (Professor Challenger, #1)
Good experience to read Arthur Conan Doyle from a perspective different than the Sherlock Holmes series.
It's hard to ignore the eurocentric perspective of the author in different passages. One detail that really caught my attention was after a "war" that caused a species extinction, the very first sentence is: "For us the victory brought much advantage." This can make explicit the culture of "Gains above all things" we've created as society.
Also, comparing this book with the Sherlock Holmes series, it is easy to see how fetishized the relation between the author and smart assholes is.
